Home Bank Grants Funds to Eight New Orleans Nonprofits Through Employee Giving Program

Home Bank’s employee giving program, Home Bank Helps, granted funds to eight New Orleans area nonprofits in 2020. The employee-funded grant process allows nonprofits and schools to apply for grant funds for unique projects and community services.

This year, the New Orleans area grantees included a variety of organizations that help the community in unique ways.

Angel’s Place will use grant funds to support volunteer services for families with seriously ill children who are in need of respite care. Trained respite volunteers watch over Angels’ Place children at the hospital or provide household aid to the family free of charge.

Covenant House will use grant funds to support homeless and at-risk youth and children. The organization is currently expanding to house more homeless youth as a need for housing has increased dramatically during COVID-19.

College Track New Orleans will use grant funds to encourage and mentor at-risk youth to ensure that all students, regardless of race or socioeconomic status, earn a college degree and achieve social mobility. The program assists youth through high school and into college with coaching, tutoring, workshops and enrichment.

The St. Jude Society of Metairie will use grant funds to feed the needy by organizing at least 50 meals per month to shut ins and other people in the parish. They also support the JPSO by providing 2 bullet proof vests per year.

Kingsley House will use grant funds to offer education programs that make a positive difference in the communities they serve. Programs range from social services and family counseling to adult day care and senior services in New Orleans.

Junior Achievement will use grant funds to continue its mission to give young people the knowledge and skills they need to own their economic success, plan for their futures, and make smart academic and economic choices. JA's programs include the core content areas of work readiness, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeast Louisiana will use grant funds to lead after school and summer learning in the greater New Orleans area.

Finally, ricRACK will use its grant funds to teach sewing and repurposing skills using donations from film, tv, theatre, retailers, and individuals to reduce waste and make sustainable clothing.

The next Home Bank Helps grant cycle will take place in spring of 2021. Local nonprofits and schools will be able to apply on Home Bank’s website at www.home24bank.com.
