How to Clean Your Debit and Credit Cards

These days we are constantly cleaning our hands, and the surfaces they touch. But have you disinfected your debit and credit cards?

Lot of hands come in contact with your cards every time you make a purchase. You give your card to a cashier. The cashier then could have trouble with the transaction, and hand your card to a manager before it’s returned to you.

Cleaning your card is easy.

  • Simply use soap and water, or an alcohol-based sanitizer that you use on your hands.
  • Do not apply disinfectant directly onto the card. Instead, apply the disinfectant to a separate cloth or soft paper towel, and then gently wipe your card.
  • Avoid vigorously rubbing the card’s chip or magnetic strip on the back. This could damage your card.

Pay Contactless with your Mobile Wallet

Adding your card to your Mobile Wallet helps avoid unnecessary contact, while  providing the same fraud protection you receive with your actual card. When you pay in a store with Mobile Wallet services such as Apple Pay, you don’t share the information contained on your card. Instead, your mobile device sends a unique, one-time passcode to the merchant’s terminal.
